Tuesday 23rd May
Another travelling day after an enjoyable night in the carpark of the Moorcock at Eggleston. I hope they continue to serve their own produce as our meals were wonderful.
Anyway not many photos we traveled through Teesdale and Swaledale to Barnard Castle. We did see some wonderful scenery going across the Pennines, also some Red Grouse with chicks and a Dipper. Sadly we also saw at least 3 dead lambs on the side of the road. The road is very winding and the lambs very skittish, so a dangerous place for youngsters.
Having chosen our pitch and eaten dinner we walked into town. This is hilly area, but at least the is a footpath off the road. We will explore the town more tomorrow and Bowes museum, but found some interesting facts. One being the weathervane on the market cross. It has holes in were two solders in the past wanted to prove their accuracy.
We watched with interest as numerous very large lorries negotiated the tight turn round the cross.
We look forward to trying this tea Room tomorrow.
